DUI Ten-Day Rule

Administrative License Suspension Hearing

Georgia has what is commonly referred to as the "Ten-Day Rule." If you are arrested for DUI, you only have ten days from the date of your arrest to request an ALS (Administrative License Suspension) hearing.  This request must be made to the Georgia Department of Drivers Services and is a completely separate action from the court date you will receive for the Driving Under the Influence charge.  This hearing will not automatically be scheduled for you.  It MUST be requested by your lawyer.  Failure to schedule this hearing could result in a suspension of your drivers’ license for up to one year.  It is important to contact a Cartersville DUI Lawyer at the Law Office of Antonio Mari to protect your right to drive.

The ALS hearing should be taken very seriously.  The effect on your life as a result of a suspended license can be disastrous.  If you an unable to drive, you may not be able to get to your job, attend school, or even go to the grocery store.  Having to rely on friends and family for transportation is a burden on them and puts you at the mercy of their respective schedules.  Hiring an experienced attorney to navigate you through this process is a must.
